The Appleton Post-Crescent reports that a man is dead after attempting to cross United States Highway 41 last night.

He was struck by a truck traveling southbound around midnight, reports the Post-Crescent. Authorities say the man was dead at the scene. Police are not identifying the victim until the family has been notified.

According to The Appleton Post-Crescent, “the southbound lanes from 9th Avenue to State 21 were closed for more than four hours.” Investigators were attempting to recreate horrific scene of this tragic pedestrian accident. One of the lanes was opened at 4 a.m. Both lanes were opened by 5:30 a.m., according to the Crescent.
