Driver Arrested Following Fatal Accident with 9-Year-Old

The 19-year-old driver of a van involved in the death of 9-year-old boy has been arrested, Jackson County police report.

The 9-year-old boy had been staying with his grandparents at their Jackson County farm at the time of the accident. He had apparently gone out snowboarding on December 26, when he accidentally snowboarded onto County Highway P, near the Township of Curran, where he was hit by a van. The boy was taken by life flight to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police arrested the driver of the van and booked him for Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Detectable Amount of a Controlled Substance.
