A 47-year-old man from Oshkosh sustained critical injuries in a single-vehicle moped crash Wednesday, according to authorities.

The accident happened along Omro Road west of Oakwood Road in Algoma around 5:30 PM. Deputies say that the driver of the moped was thrown to the pavement after the impact and suffered potentially life-threatening injuries to his head and torso. He was not wearing a helmet.

Emergency personnel took the man to Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah for treatment, where he remains in critical care.
