Five Ticketed for Texting While Driving

Recent reports have stated that, in Wisconsin, only five tickets have been given to people who have been texting while driving since a law that banned the action was passed in December. However, officials say that this low number of tickets may not be because drivers are not texting.

Some police officers have said that enacting the texting law is extremely difficult because they cannot tell when drivers are texting or reading a text. The law states that it is only legal for drivers to text but not to read texts. Because of this stipulation, officers are finding it difficult to crack down on texters.

Those in the state’s legislation assembly are continuing to defend the law, saying that people are learning to change their behavior and that could prevent accidents and save lives.
