Three die in pedestrian accident

Three teenagers are dead after a fatal pedestrian accident late last week. A 48 year-old woman ran a red light and hit the group of friends. A 17 year-old boy suffered a traumatic brain injury and was taken off of life support this week, a 16 year-old died at the scene, and a 17 year-old boy died just hours after the accident at the hospital.

Police say the friends were walking along Highway 183 by I-675 in Atlanta when the accident occurred. The woman was allegedly fighting with her husband on her cellphone at the time. Police say she was on anti-depressants and failed field sobriety tests. She faces two charges of vehicular homicide, not stopping at a red light, DUI, no proof of insurance, driving with a suspended license, obstruction of an officer, and not exercising due care while on a cellphone.

Our deepest sympathies are with the family and friends of the young victims of this accident.
