I-94 crash caused by wrong-way driver

A 27 year-old man is in police custody after he caused an accident on Interstate 94 near Hammond early Saturday morning.

St. Croix County and Hammond police officers had tried to stop the driver by laying down tire deflation devices. The man, who was driving eastbound in westbound lanes, was only stopped when he collided with another vehicle. A 41 year-old Bloomington, Minnesota man in the other vehicle suffered minor injuries.

Authorities have charged the driver with reckless driving, driving the wrong way, fleeing from police, eluding causing bodily harm, driving without a valid license, and endangering safety.
