Motorcyclist in critical condition after accident

A 41 year-old motorcyclist is in critical condition after a collision with a car on Sunday ejected him from his bike. The Mount Pleasant man was taken to the trauma center at Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa after suffering serious head injuries.

According to police, the motorcyclist tried to pass a car in front of him that had slowed down to turn right. The man went around the car on the right and they collided. Authorities believe speed may have been a factor in the accident.

It is not known at this time if the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet when the crash occurred. Wisconsin does not have a universal helmet law and the man is not required to wear one.
