An Oshkosh man faces several charges related to the death of his wife after the two were in a fatal car accident New Year’s Day. The man was driving the couple back from New Year’s Eve celebrations when the car drove into a ditch.

Responders found the wife unresponsive in the passenger seat and later declared her dead. The husband was found to have a blood alcohol level of 0.17, more than twice the legal limit. A crash reconstruction also determined that he was speeding.

The man faces charges of homicide by negligent operation of a motor vehicle, homicide by use of a motor vehicle with prohibited alcohol content, and intoxicated vehicular homicide.
