Speed blamed for fatal one-car accident

A passenger was killed and the teenage driver was injured following a one-car accident in Green Garden Township Sunday afternoon. The male passenger was pronounced dead at the scene after he was ejected from the vehicle.

The driver, a 17 year-old girl with a learner’s permit, suffered head and arm injuries as a result. She was taken to Silver Cross Hospital after responders extricated her from the car.

According to a sheriff’s spokesperson, the teenager is believed to have been speeding on Scheer Road when she lost control on the road’s gravel shoulder, causing the car to flip several times. An investigation into the accident is still ongoing.
