Department of Transportation raises awareness of distracted driving

April has been named the National Distracted Driving Awareness Month by the U.S. Department of Transportation in an effort to curb motorists from texting and driving. Several states have passed laws specifically targeting young drivers to practice safe driving techniques.

Later this year, a Wisconsin law will go into effect that will ban all cellphone use, handheld as well as hands-free devices, for all novice drivers. Texting is already banned for all drivers in the state.

National attention has also focused on commercial truck drivers and cellphone use. Earlier this year, a new federal law was passed that banned all handheld cellphone use for commercial truck, bus, and other fleet drivers.

If you have been injured in an accident caused by a distracted driver, contact the reckless driving accident attorneys of Habush Habush & Rottier, S.C. by calling 800-242-2874.
