Bicyclist killed in bike-car collision

A woman died last week at Aspirus Wausau Hospital after she was fatally struck on Highway KK near Rifle Road when she was riding her bike. The 44-year-old Mosinee bicyclist was hit just a few miles away from where her husband died in 2008 when he crashed his bike into a parked car.

According to the Pioneer Press, the woman had recently remarried and was planning on leaving for her honeymoon this week. The driver of the car was arrested by authorities for driving with a suspended license.

This was the first bicycle fatality in Wisconsin this year. The crash is still under investigation by the Sheriff’s Department.
