Little Chute woman charged with negligent driving

Pakou Xiong, a 19-year-old resident of Little Chute, pleaded not guilty during her arraignment on Monday, April 15 in an Outagamie County court regarding her charge of homicide by negligent driving. She faces this charge after allegedly texting while driving, causing her to run over and accidentally kill a Kimberly man.

Forty-six-year-old James Weiss, who was riding his bicycle on Kimberly Avenue when the accident occurred, died several days after the accident from the life-threatening injuries he sustained from the incident.

According to one of Xiong’s co-workers, the defendant’s car drifted to the right of the lane near where Weiss was before hitting Weiss completely. Following that, Xiong stopped her car to call 911 and report the incident.

The start of her trial is scheduled tentatively for July 9.
