Girl on bicycle gets hit by a car in Appleton

Appleton, Wisconsin police reported a crash involving a car and a 12-year-old girl riding on a bicycle at the intersection of E. Calumet Street and S. Greenview Street near James Madison Middle School on Monday, September 16 shortly before 7:30 a.m.

According to the police report, the woman operating the vehicle got out of her car after she hit the girl, but then reportedly got back in her car and fled the scene of the accident. The driver, who turned herself in after 1 p.m., received citations for hit-and-run causing injury and not having car insurance.

The police had a hard time trying to further investigate the details of the case as the girl’s description of the model and make of the car were hazy, and witness accounts did not match with her descriptions.
